The 70+ poker event festival takes place from the 28th of August until the 28th of September, and runs along side some of the biggest tournaments on the continent. On August 28th The World Poker Tour London (WPT) comes to town, and is closely followed by The English Poker Open (EPO); and of course, the World Series of Poker Europe (WSOPE*) is running throughout the second half of September. In total, those tournaments alone bring a prize pool of over £9 million to the capital.

PokerStars Launches Ladies-Only League

The brand new Women’s Poker League aims to give female players the chance to have a little fun and compete against players from all over the world in an exclusive female-only community with cash prizes on the line.
The league will run until the end of this year, awarding points for results in tournaments with buy-ins as low as $5.50.
The players with the most points at the end of each month and at the end of the year will win cash and PokerStars Ladies Luxury Event packages.
Tournaments will run daily at 1:10 p.m. ET and 8:10 p.m. ET with points available for all final tablists and those in the money.
is also introducing weekly Women’s Special tournaments starting this Sunday.
At the end of the month, prizes will be awarded in both US Dollars and Euros for the top 50 players.
The end of the year even winner will earn either $1,500 or €1,000, plus a Ladies Luxury Event package.
Players will be able to keep track of their points on a special rankings page on PokerStars.
IPT Venice Begins

A total of 227 players coughed up the €2,000+€200 buy-in on Day 1a, including 35 who qualified on .
One of those qualifiers, Loccarini Giacomo, played himself into the chip lead with 175k in chips after nine levels of play, leading the 101 players who survived the day.
Claudio Pagano, father of Team PokerStars Pro Luca Pagano, will be hot on Giacomo’s heels when Day 2 begins Saturday, holding 145k in chips.
In the meantime, Friday’s Day 1b is expected to draw another sizeable field with Team PokerStars Pro Dario Minieri and Salvatore Bonavena, and the IPT Leaderboard winner Giovanni Salvatore, all planning to hit the Venetian felt at Casino Ca’ Noghera.
An ITP Venice winner will be crowned Monday.
